Conference for Free and Open Source Software in GIS (FOSSGIS) in Bonn, 21-24 March 2018

From 21 to 24 March, FOSSGIS 2018, the conference for free and open software in the field of geographic information systems, will take place in Bonn, organised by the FOSSGIS e.V. from Germany. FOSSGIS e.V. has recently also become the official local chapter of the OpenStreetMap Foundation for Germany, so you can expect a lot of content about OpenStreetMap at this conference (Friday and Saturday).
Here is the official announcement from the organisers:
Dear FOSSGIS enthusiasts, Preparations for the FOSSGIS 2018 conference in Bonn are underway. The call for papers is starting. The conference will take place from 21 to 24 March. Sponsors and exhibitors are welcome. At the same time, there will be an international OSGeo Code Sprint. This will take place in the proven BaseCamp.
FOSSGIS 2018 will take place from 21 to 24 March 2018 at the University of Bonn. The organisers expect hundreds of participants, including some experts from abroad, at the largest German-language user conference for free geoinformation systems and free geodata, which is being held for the 12th time. The conference is organised by the non-profit FOSSGIS e.V. and the OpenStreetMap Community with the support of the University of Bonn. The Institute of Geography and the Geozentrum serve as venues. For three days, users and developers will meet to exchange ideas about applications and work opportunities and discuss the latest developments. The company and project exhibition, which is taking place at the same time, will enable direct contact with professional service providers. The Friday afternoon and Saturday in particular will be dedicated to the OSM community. Call for Papers until 28 November 2017 The call for papers is open until 28 November 2017. https://fossgis-konferenz.de/2018/callforpapers/ Researchers, developers and users can submit a lecture or workshop. The deciding factor for acceptance is that exciting topics are covered that trigger stimulating discussions. Presentations on the topic of free geodata, such as OpenStreetMap or Open Data, are just as possible as contributions to solutions with free software in the field of WebGIS, Desktop-GIS, spatial databases, location-based services, geoprocessing, etc. From the 2017 participant survey, we know the following topics: Docker, Angular2, 1. Steps in Python, GeoPackage, QGIS for advanced users, QGIS 3 plugins, GeoNetwork, GeoServer introduction, GeoTools + Java Topology Suite (JTS), pgRouting, INSPIRE services, ATOM feeds, Big Data geo-frameworks, Big Data analysis in R, SpatiaLite. Please consider this list as a suggestion. Become part of the conference and apply now with a presentation or workshop. FOSSGIS members are happy to answer any questions about the call for papers by emailing konferenz-orga@fossgis.de. The programme planning will take place at the 9th FOSSGIS Hacking from 8 to 10 December at the Linuxhotel in Essen, so there will be no extension of the Call for Papers. The detailed programme will be announced at the beginning of January 2018, when registration will also open. BaseCamp for the international OSGeo Code Sprint: The international OSGeo Code Sprint will take place at BaseCamp in Bonn from 19 to 25 March 2017, at the same time as FOSSGIS. The indoor and outdoor retro park with its nostalgic flair, complete with decommissioned caravans and sleeping cars, has already proven a success at FOSS4G 2016. ‘An ideal place for creative exchange, which was enthusiastically embraced by the participants,’ said FOSSGIS board member Till Adams.
