AGIT 2018: Day 1

AGIT 2018: Day 1

We’ve arrived at AGIT.

We were able to complete most of the stand construction on the day we arrived. The small jobs and fine-tuning were done this morning. This year we welcome our guests with a multimedia installation:

  • projector with FOSSGIS and OSM videos
  • 2x screens for presentations and recruiting new OSM users

Since we were assigned a different location again this year, we had to be a little more creative in setting up the stand. Thanks to the preparatory work of Scubbx, this was possible without any major difficulties and we and our visitors are very satisfied with the result. Here are a few impressions of the day.

Besides manning our stand, Scubbx and I took part in OSGeoDay, both as speakers and moderators. We were able to attend very interesting talks in the open source area.

Furthermore, we were able to welcome visitors from all over the world to our stand. We even had a delegation from Latin America visit us. In the evening, a visitor challenged geologist to adapt an Overpass Turbo query for a self-written web application. But this request was also resolved to the visitor’s satisfaction.

We then let the evening come to a cosy close with food, drinks and the presentations from the last FOSSGIS. In any case, we are looking forward to the next day to introduce even more visitors to OpenStreetMap.
