That was the Maker Faire Vienna 2023
On June 3-4, 2023, the Maker Faire, the trade fair for DIYers and tinkerers, took place in the MetaCity in Vienna. We were also there as the Austrian LocalChapter!
The OpenStreetMap (Austria) stand at Maker Faire Vienna 2023
We had a great stand on the upper floor, and its positioning on a corner allowed us to set up a monitor on each side of the table at the same time, where we could introduce interested visitors to the world of OpenStreetMap - and there were quite a few of them over the two days! Three of us, geologist, ScubbX and Skunk, manned the OSM info table and hardly had a moment to ourselves.

There was a wide range of different questions, some visitors had never heard of OpenStreetMap, and some told us about their experiences with OpenStreetMap.

We were also approached by the organizers of the Maker Fairs in Salzburg (AT), Hannover (DE) and Trieste (IT) and asked if we would like to exhibit at their events. Regarding Salzburg, we are already considering, for Hannover we have referred to the German LocalChapter (the FOSSGIS e.V.) and for Trieste we have recommended a contact to www.osmit.it.

We received a laser cut of the city center of Vienna on wood from the exhibitors of a “Mr Beam” laser cutter (https://www.mr-beam.org)!
There was also a short radio interview by Mapper “geologist” with a reporter from the radio station Ö1 and a short video interview by Mapper “ScubbX” for the Maker Faire press team itself.
