That was the GI Salzburg 2023

As already announced with OSM at GISalzburg 2023, we were represented at GI Salzburg 2023 (Tue 04.07.2023 – Thu 06.07.2023) with our OpenStreetMap Austria stand. Furthermore, we helped to run the FOSSGIS and OSGEO stands for FOSSGIS e.V.
Monday
We arrived on Monday, July 3, 2023, to use the evening to set up.
The booth was built on Monday evening
We tried out various arrangements - but then we put the banner in the front left in a different place
Since we always have quite a lot of material with us, it was good that we still used Monday evening. This time, ScubbX took care of the transport from Vienna to Salzburg and Negreheb had taken over the OSGEO material from FOSSGIS e.V. in advance. The three of us made good progress, so that we only had a few minor things to set up and organize the next day.
We had a laminated version of each OSGeo product sheet clearly displayed
We had to leave the building by 10 p.m. because the doorman had to lock the entrance doors
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
On Tuesday, we were able to welcome the first visitors to our stand.
Even before the “official” start at 2:00 p.m., we were able to welcome visitors to our booth
There were again very exciting discussions and debates. In most cases, the topics were the use and the Odbl licensing. However, we were able to show many visitors new applications and services related to OpenStreetMap and OSGEO.
The laser-cut map of Vienna on wood caught the eye of a few visitors
We were also shown new things by visitors
At the evening events, the game https://backofyourhand.com/ was a hit, where visitors could test their local knowledge.
In the evening, the terrace of the Faculty of Natural Sciences provided a great view for further discussions
Since representatives from various authorities also attended the GI Salzburg, we were able to take the opportunity to discuss topics currently being debated in the community with them.
All in all, the GI Salzburg 2023 was once again a very successful trade fair. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers and look forward to the GI Salzburg 2024.
