Here is an excerpt from the original announcement from http://maptime.io/salzburg/event/2019/05/08/Mapthon/:
The next Maptime event will take place in the form of a humanitarian mapping marathon. We will work together to digitise geodata such as houses or streets using satellite images and upload them to OpenStreetMap. We will provide an introduction and explain everything relevant. There will be free drinks, snacks (sponsored by Z_GIS) and music. Please bring:
This Thursday, 21 March 2019, Doctors Without Borders is hosting a mapathon in Vienna: https://www.aerzte-ohne-grenzen.at/event/mapathon
This will take place from 5:00 p.m. at TÜWI, Dänenstraße 4, 1190 Vienna. You can register by emailing entwicklung@oehboku.at.
At ‘mapping parties’, volunteers help to put neglected crisis regions on the map. This data is important for the work of aid organisations so that they can react faster and in a more targeted manner in the event of a crisis. The Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières are jointly organising a mapathon on 22 March to mark World Water Day.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate, whether you are a beginner or an experienced mapper. All you need to bring is your own laptop (including a mouse).
On 18 January 2018, a mapathon will take place at Wiener Metalab, organised by the Missing Maps initiative. The official news item linked there still refers to last year’s mapathon, but it is already listed in the Metalab calendar.
