The international annual OSM conference “State of the Map” (SotM) took place in Florence from August 19 to 21, 2022: https://2022.stateofthemap.org/

Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore

Participants and OSM-specific organizations from all over the world were present at this extremely exciting and successful conference. What was also special about this event was that it was a hybrid event, which meant that you could also participate via the internet, at least during the exciting talks. However, the many conversations and exchanges of information with the other conference participants, OSM developers and mappers on site were an experience that no online participation can replace.

It’s hard to believe, but true: the video recording of the StateOfTheMap Europe 2011 conference has made it onto the brand new ‘OpenStreetMap Austria’ channel on YouTube!

It is amazing to see that the resolution used at the time was the optimum for the required storage. Originally, YouTube was not used because at that time there was still a limit for the videos that could be uploaded for free, which would have been exceeded for almost every presentation.
