Dear fellow mappers! On Thursday, 17 May 2018, after a break of almost a year, an OSM meet-up will take place again at Wieden Bräu! We meet at 6:30 p.m., if we can get a seat in the beer garden, otherwise inside in the warm (cool?) room.

The first day of Linuxwochen 2018 in Vienna is over!
In addition to many interesting lectures on blockchain, Vienna GIS or optimising PostgreSQL databases, there was also an OSM stand again this year, right next to the Mozilla stand, where a browser-based virtual reality solution including VR glasses could be tried out.

The OSM booth was manned by ScubbX and, from the afternoon onwards, by BearT as well. We are already looking forward to tomorrow, Friday!
The Austrian OpenStreetMap Association is holding its general meeting on 4 May 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Linuxtage at the FH Technikum Wien. The meeting point is the OSM stand in the foyer.

I hereby invite all members of the OpenStreetMap Austria association to the 2018 general meeting.

At ‘mapping parties’, volunteers help to put neglected crisis regions on the map. This data is important for the work of aid organisations so that they can react faster and in a more targeted manner in the event of a crisis. The Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières are jointly organising a mapathon on 22 March to mark World Water Day.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate, whether you are a beginner or an experienced mapper. All you need to bring is your own laptop (including a mouse).
This year, the Linuxwochen will once again take place in Vienna, Graz, Linz and Eisenstadt.
Presentations for Vienna can be submitted until 19 March 2018. There is also room for OpenStreetMap and FOSSGIS relevant topics.
On 18 January 2018, a mapathon will take place at Wiener Metalab, organised by the Missing Maps initiative. The official news item linked there still refers to last year’s mapathon, but it is already listed in the Metalab calendar.
From 04.05.2017 to 06.05.2017, Linuxwochen was held in Vienna again this year. On Friday, 5 May, OpenStreetMap was also represented with a stand. Although there were no special OpenStreetMap lectures, this did not mean that there was no interest in OpenStreetMap.
The stand was well attended throughout and the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE), which was also present, took a few packs of OpenStreetMap flyers with them so that they could distribute them themselves if needed. Furthermore, two of the OSM mugs were sold.
At the [Linuxwochen Wien](http://www.linuxwochen.at/Wien ‘Linuxwochen 2015’) from 7 to 9 May 2015 [FH Technikum Wien, 1200 Vienna, Höchstädtplatz 6](http://www.technikum-wien.at/ ‘FH Technikum Wien’), OpenStreetMap had a stand. We answered all questions about OpenStreetMap, and visitors were able to ‘top up’ their Garmin devices with the latest OSM maps at the Garmin petrol station.
